Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 lb ground italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 cups cooked Riceland long-grain white rice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Preparation
- In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- Add the onion, celery, and apple to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked rice, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour in the broth and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine flavors.
- Remove from heat and stir in the fresh parsley.
- Serve as a side dish or stuffing for Thanksgiving or holiday meals.
