Rice has been one of the world’s most important and enjoyed staples for thousands of years. And for the last 50 years, hungry consumers have purchased their rice packaged up in almost the same packaging for the duration of that time. Shoppers have become accustomed to buying their rice in some sort of carton or box or plastic or woven-fiber bag. It’s how they buy it, how their parents bought it and maybe even how their grandparents bought it. 

Those tried and true packaging methods have performed consistently over the years and still do, but 50 years is a long time. Luckily, this month, we’re going to explore some new packaging options for rice and look at the impact it could have in your store for your shoppers. 

Boxes and bags have been the norm for a long time now, but in the past five years, there has been a healthy new crop of package innovations to help as shoppers continually search for new and convenient ways of using rice.
